Decorated chocolate cookies

These seem to be the tastiest cookies I’ve made so far. It is impressive how adding just some cocoa makes the taste so much more interesting! Additionally there is also vanilla in the royal icing, which also made it feel better.
The design of the cookies is a complete improvisation. I just wanted to try my new cookie cutters which I ordered online more than a month ago.
Unfortunately setting the royal icing consistency and piping small elements are skills which I still have to work on, but I am definitely better than one year ago (reference – last Christmas cookies).
The current recipe is from here: simple and nice. As usual I made the royal icing with dry egg whites instead of raw ones – I am just too cautious to use raw eggs in my sweets.
