Today I will focus more on the pictures than on the recipes. The first reason for this is that I followed recipes from other sites and I don’t want to repeat them here. The second reason is because I am definitely lazy to write and I prefer to show it.
Unfortunately I didn’t take enough pictures at all, as I am noticing now, but hopefully I will learn my lesson eventually in the future and will start taking incredible amounts of photos for any occasion.
– The cake recipe is from here. I followed it strictly, but I added pink and blue food colouring to the base and to the frosting (after dividing them in two). In addition for the frosting I used a little bit more milk, because initially it was too thick.
Pity that I didn’t take any picture of the cut cake (I simply forgot), because it was quite impressive.
– The cake decoration technique is from here. Obviously I didn’t make it ombre, but instead I chose to follow my pink and blue pattern. On the top it is covered with fondant, painted by hand with the same colours. The toppers are cookies, baked together with the sticks, covered with white fondant and afterwards hand painted.
– The cookie recipe is from here. The only change from my side was that I used liquid vanilla extract and also some almond extract (which I didn’t really feel as a taste in the cookies, so I guess it was already expired).
– Most of the cookies are covered with royal icing and few of them with fondant. The decorations are royal icing and stamps with food colouring. The stamps didn’t work very well, that’s why I made very few cookies with them.
I am planning to try new royal icing cookies, so I hope I will be able to share them here very soon.
